Collector name Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA), Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) The ERA is a statutory body established in 2000 in accordance with the Electricity Act 1999, with the purpose of regulating the generation, transmission, distribution, sale, export and import of electricity in Uganda. Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) UEGCL was incorporated in 2001 and is wholly owned by the government of Uganda. Its key responsibilities are the generation of electric power, and its sale within Uganda or as exports to neighbouring countries; building, operating and maintaining electricity generation plants; monitoring the operation of and maintaining its assets; and providing technical support as and when required.
