Collected by government	Yes	Statistics South Africa collects gender statistics mainly through the census conducted every 10 years, as well as the Community Survey that's also carried out roughly every 10 years. There also conduct 2 annual surveys, the Victims of Crime Survey, and the General Household Survey. The last census was in 2011 and the last Community Survey was in 2016. For the intermediate years, estimates of gender statistics are found using population projection software by Stats SA.
