There is only water quality data measured in 2011-12 for one region/basin. Extractives activities Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources (MMEWR) is responsible to ensure compliance of mining activities with mining law Air quality: See report on the state of air pollution in Botswana (submitted in December 2016) The current air quality management in Botswana is still largely underpinned by the Atmospheric Pollution Prevention Act of 1971. In Botswana environmental monitoring is “weak and data are not available for regular evaluation of air quality. Government, stakeholders, and policy makers should set reference threshold limits values for ambient air quality for pollutants in the country. In addition, a body should be designated to monitor air quality in the country and its report should be published yearly to allow for evaluation.” The air pollution control division of the Department of Mines is responsible for air quality. A small number of bubbler samplers for SO2 have operated since the mid-1970s. Total suspended aerosols have been measured since the 1990s. A new air quality network is proposed, consisting of 17 sites in ten towns, at which SO2 (14 sites), NOx (nine sites), CO (four sites), O3 (four sites), particulates (two sites) and hydrocarbons (one site) is planned to be monitored on a continuous basis. The first samplers were commissioned in June 1999.: See https://www.fao.org/docrep/005/x9751e/x9751e05.htm Department of Waste Management & Pollution Control Offices issues air pollution certificates https://www.gov.bw/en/Ministries--Authorities/Ministries/Ministry-of-Environment--Wildlife-and-Tourism/Tools--Services/Services--Forms/Air-Pollution-Registration-Certificates/
